As we wrap up the year, I want to extend my sincere thanks to everyone who supports and believes in the Chinatown–International District. The progress we’ve made this year—across safety, sanitation, and community engagement—reflects collective effort and shared care for this neighborhood. Since the launch of the Safety Ambassador Program in June 2025, Safety Ambassadors have recorded nearly 1750 unique interactions across the CID and Little Saigon—from wellness checks and outreach, to de-escalations, property damage reports, and business check-ins. Their data helps us better understand everyday conditions in the neighborhood and how to respond.
CIDBIA, SCIDpda, and Friends of Little Sài Gòn are also advancing CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design) projects, helping businesses repair windows and doors, install gates, and improve security lighting.

In partnership with Seattle Public Utilities Clean City Division, Seattle Surface Cleaners, Waste Management, and Fleet Genius, CIDBIA crews made significant progress in October:
9,570 lbs. of garbage removed
559 pieces of recycling collected
625 biohazards cleared (human & pet waste)
353 needles/sharps safely disposed
115 overflow litter cans/dumpsters addressed
95 bulky items hauled from right-of-way
78 instances of broken glass cleaned
1,491 sq. ft. of graffiti removed across CID businesses & properties
SPU also continues weekday alley pressure washing to keep streets safer and more welcoming.
